Legacy: OURPGSoc Society Game 2006-2007

How The Game Works

Note: This information is contained in the Flyer distributed at Fresher's Fair.

Each session represents a meeting of the Imperial Court, to which many important people are invited. During these sessions the majority of the time is in-character, with players acting out their characters’ activities as they move around the Court and talk to other characters. Should you wish to be more physical – for example, if you end up fighting a duel with another character – you won't physically act out those things. Instead, you'll talk to the game organisers who will decide what happens; an organiser will always be on hand to try to answer any questions you might have.

In the 6 months of in-character time between sessions, your character can be much more active – you can specify what you’d like them to do by sending the organisers a “turnsheet” which describes their actions and how much attention is devoted to each one. These actions could be as varied as buying flowers for another character, exploring a Death world or mounting a full-scale assault on the Empire’s enemies.

Before the next session, the organisers read everyone’s turnsheet and decide how successful each character has been in implementing their plans. These results are revealed to the players in secret at the start of the next session, with consequences visible to all characters reported in the in-character news.
