Lacrymosa:
- Goddess of despair and loss
- Don't choose to become her worshipper; you find yourself driven to it
- Doesn't help sufferers but rejoices in their pain
- Power comes from pain and takes its toll on those who wield it
- Avatars are the Maid (sorrow for that which will never happen) the Mother (loss of joy) and the Crone (regret)
Intercessor:
- Formerly god of wrath before abandoning godhood to stop gods massacring humanity.
- Left One Message unambiguously forcing the Church of the Intercessor to be fluffy, nice and not corrupt.
- Is now stuck in the Grey Order's Citadel of Steam.
- Is not entirely sure whether he'd like to be set free or not.
- Avatars are Richard the Firebrand (avatar-hunter who became Richard the Wild after Lacrymosa killed his wife), The Wise Priest (secret hand running the Church of the Intercessor, hides his identity as an avatar by switching identities with another cardinal every so often) and Lucrecija (wise witch-woman who passes by giving handy advice, rides in a flying brightly-painted caravan drawn by two winged cats)
Illaria:
- Not just an excuse for Vicky to mew during GM sessions, Illaria is the patroness of cats.
- Adopted felinekind as her own after appeal from Tybalt, father and ruler of cats.
- Avatars are Tybalt (king of cats, patron of those who survive against unusual odds - especially when the Powers are involved) and the Huntress (leet ninja cat assassin).
The Soldier:
- God of the harsh reality of war: enemies on one side, idiotic generals on another, and death everywhere.
- Stoicism, determination, sticking to one's principles, fidelity to one's self.
- Worried that some sort of final battle is approaching, and doesn't like Final Battles.
- Considering starting a war to increase mankind's connection to himself, but doesn't want to start wars because lots of the common footsoldiers who represent him will die
- Avatars are Kyla Ornishee (avenging housewife), Colonel Bluster (head of a cult worshipping Soldier, increasing power by spreading rumours about himself through army and establishing self as an urban legend) and Lieutenant Sternos (bungling wrench in the wheels of military bureaucracy)
Versinya:
- Goddess of depravity and decay, delights in the perversion of all that is good and natural
- Followers have tendencies towards sickness and debauchery
- Waited on by the undead and decaying forms of men
- Avatars are Cassius (noble hero who fought against Versinya before being corrupted by her; had immortality thrust upon him unwillingly), Assumpta (beautiful woman with empty eye sockets, patron of perversion of love, killed her own baby) and The Boy (small, unremarkable-looking boy of 6 or 7 years, symbolises lost innocence, got lost in Treacherous Lands)
Arikel:
- The Toolmaker: made tools for the gods and humans until God of Oaths was murdered, then refused to make fire for humans any more.
- Is bitter that humans were able to make fire for themselves. Hates the Intercessor, too.
- Resents human invention, but also fascinated by it; fears his ignorance of human technology.
- Has agents in Guilds of Clockworking and Steam, but not in control. Wants to change this.
- Founded the Grey Order as a plot to control the Intercessor, but his agents left him or lost power in the Order.
- Avatars are the Journeyman (apprentice to Arikel, wanders from village to village fixing things, more fond of humanity than Arikel), the Smith (apprentice to Arikel, wanders, establishes self as village smith then drives out all competition, been driven out by Imperial forces several times but escaped harm), the Engineer (brilliant and vindictively jealous inventor, became an avatar after symbolically stealing fire from an almshouse) the Dreadnought (big stompy robot monster)
The Mutilated One:
- No appearance or avatars: appears in dreams with atrophied or missing limbs, screams, moans or roars but never speaks.
- Patron and protector of those not physically whole. Intervenes on their behalf via 'coincidences', but also seeks to increase number of his children.
- Controls Beggars' Guild by possessing the King of the Beggars; thus it is bad luck to injure a beggar in the city.
