Illaria

She is the goddess of assasins, thieves and all that happens under cover of darkness. She is linked to cunning, instinct and night, but most certainly not the Stars. Her barge is said to be draped inside with sumptuous black satin and she is waited upon by black cats. It is rumoured that she shows particular favoritism to cats and all those who show kindness to them. She does not care much for humanity and generally ignores them unless they particularly please or anger her.

There is an ancient story that the cats were once servants of humanity. One such cat was so abused that he fled his master but being so domesticated could not survive alone in the wildness. He called out to any god or power who would listen and Illaria responded. She gifted him the instinct and wit he needed to survive in addition to protection from the onslaught of the powers. In exchange he and all his ancestors pleged loyalty to their goddess.

Rumours

I hear that the magic of Land shamen doesn’t work on cats. The Land does not view them as part of itself any more.

All modern cats are descended from the first cat to reach out to Illaria, they call him Tybalt. His coat is said to be so black it reflects no light.

Tybalt became an avatar of Illaria. Be careful of mistreating black cats, they say he still lives on today.

You see that shadowy figure who wanders along rooftops at night, they say depending on how you look at it it is either a cat or a beautiful woman.

Anyone who hurts a cat will incur the wrath of Lady Illaria, and its not likely to be pretty.

There’s ancient war between cats and dogs. One day the two will destroy each other.

There is an assassin in Horizon who is actually an avatar of Illaria. You can call on her but she will only appear if she thinks its worth her Lady’s while.

Cats are not to be trusted. mow.
