The Court stand proudly among the first instructed by the Creator to govern his magnificent work, and when the word of the Creator was challenged by the Unreal, the Court did all they could to aid in their defeat and eventual imprisonment. The fierce wrath of the Sun, the gusting blasts of Wind and the harsh battering of Rain held back even the unholdable, such was their force of will and conviction. However, at other times, the Court’s residents tend to drift or be less than focused in their desires. This by no means suggests they are neglectful of their duty, but their other interests are wide and flit without apparent purpose. Such wispish attention tends to lead to the Court being intensely devoted to whatever currently takes their fancy, yet this will change rapidly and perhaps this is what makes many other Gods underestimate their usefulness and power. True, the members of the Court may not always pay good attention to the goings on a small scale, devoted as they are to bigger things, but they will always give their all to whatever succeeds in grabbing their fancy and often deal with such things in interesting and unusual ways. Innovation is achieved through their great leaps in intuition and quick assessment of possibilities. The Messenger of the Gods has often passed such possibilities on to mortals, aiding some of the more interesting mortal deeds and creations.
Those of the Upper Air are known for their flightiness and quick-witted nature, which has caused them to be both respected and looked down on by different other Courts. It is rumoured that it was the Messenger of the Gods and Madness who first inflamed humans with lust for spiritkind, and taught them the secret means of consummating this desire - such unions spawning the first Children of Grace. The Kingdom’s residents certainly seem to carry similar traits. The Court of the Upper Air were certainly among the most vocal when various Gods began to call for the Children of Grace to be dealt with.
The Estate of the Starsinger was frequently associated with Court rulership during the period immediately before the Iron Rule, though this was not always the case, and may not always be, such flighty sensibilities as befit the Court of the Upper Air are not averse to change, and do so often. Many of the more minor positions vary in their importance, as they become more or less in demand, but the seven major Estates are constant, only who runs them will change. There are many celebrations within the Court, they have much to celebrate with their ever changing and vast view of the world. That which deserves recognition changes as rapidly as their interests, but the most vital and extravagant is a constant. That which is held yearly at the edge of Light and Darkness on the wettest day of the year, the celebration of the Ends of Creation, which can never truly be reached and yet hold everything together.
It is the fashion in the Court of the Upper Air to wear masks with birdlike features - perhaps feathers - and/or feathers in the hair.
